I’m on a personal mission to get more people to shop local…


It all started with writing and publishing the Shop Local book which reached best-seller status in the money management category at Amazon, giving readers the tools to know how to shop local in a way that works for their own lifestyle and budget.

Then in 2012, I founded ShopLocal.us to help raise awareness of the importance of local businesses and how they help keep our communities healthy, wealthy and vibrant. My company, ShopLocal.us is dedicated to building the economy by boosting the visibility and profitability of small independent businesses through advocacy and grassroots publicity. ShopLocal.us raises consumer awareness about local businesses and their impact on our communities and provides small business marketing strategies.

Over the past two years, ShopLocal.us has given $8,000 total in grant awards and prizes to local businesses in the South Bay (Los Angeles) community. Winners receive this money to help fund important business needs and support the sustainability and growth of their small business.

Celebrating the importance of local businesses

To help local businesses gain visibility and stand out to local consumers, I created the Certified Locally Ownedâ„¢ program — a business designation offered by ShopLocal.us exclusively for independently-owned, local small businesses and professionals. Eligible businesses across the U.S. are recognized for their impact on keeping communities healthy, wealthy and vibrant, and receive positive marketing benefits as part of membership.
